    About the role#

    We are looking for a Mechanic Intern to join our equipment team for the summer of 2027. This role provides hands-on experience working with experienced mechanics and technicians on heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. You will build a technical foundation for a career in the construction and equipment industry through direct exposure to maintenance operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work.
    • Observe and participate in diagnosing equipment issues to identify problems.
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to support equipment performance.
    • Maintain equipment reports, maintenance logs, and metrics.
    • Follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
    • Work with mechanics, equipment managers, and field staff to support division goals.
    • Participate in identifying ways to improve maintenance and repair processes.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a relevant degree or technical program, such as Diesel or Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or Construction Management.
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a strong interest in the field.
    • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment is helpful.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work well in a team setting.
    • Willingness to work in both shop and outdoor field environments.
    • Proactive attitude and a desire to learn.
    • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

    • Location: Kansas City, Missouri.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
