About the role#
This is a temporary 8-month co-op position based in Marshalltown, Iowa. You will work on-site as part of a structured program that provides hands-on experience and professional development. The role requires high attention to detail and safety, as you will handle equipment including saws, heat sources, and chemicals.
What you'll do#
- Perform lab evaluations such as liquid penetrant testing, welding monitoring, and hardness or micro-hardness testing.
- Conduct corrosion testing, metallography, sectioning, coating thickness evaluation, and compositional analysis.
- Document laboratory results and communicate findings to requestors, including descriptions of test procedures or failure analysis.
- Support Engineering Change Management processes and revise company standards.
- Update web pages and assist with general work processes.
- Support supplier qualifications and analyze components from the field.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering or a closely related field.
- Junior or higher class standing.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Successful completion of introductory materials engineering coursework and a Materials Characterization course.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Preference is given to students studying Materials Engineering or Polymers Engineering.
