    About the role#

    Earthjustice is seeking a graduate student for a part-time Science Internship in our Washington, DC Regional Office for the spring of 2027. This position supports our work on national environmental issues, including air quality, drinking water, and energy efficiency. You will work under the supervision of the Senior Staff Scientist and the Senior Research and Policy Analyst. This role is paid at an hourly rate of $27.66.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to comment letters submitted to federal agencies.
    • Draft factsheets for community partners and write blog posts.
    • Create internal memos that summarize research findings.
    • Perform data analysis to support ongoing litigation and policy work.
    • Engage with Congressional members and their staff.
    • Commit to 15 hours per week for a duration of 10 to 12 weeks.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a graduate program with an expected graduation date no earlier than May 2027.
    • A background in environmental science, biology, chemistry, engineering, or public health.
    • Coursework or experience in environmental health topics such as epidemiology, toxicology, or human health risk assessment.
    • Ability to conduct scientific literature reviews and perform basic quantitative data analysis.
    • Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to present complex information to different audiences.

    • This position is based in Washington, DC.
    • Interns may work in a hybrid capacity from our office or remotely within the United States.
