About the role#
The Midwest Regional Office is hiring a part-time legal intern for the spring 2027 term. You will gain hands-on experience in public interest litigation while focusing on environmental justice, tribal treaty rights, and climate issues. This role supports our work to protect communities and natural resources across the Midwest.
What you'll do#
Under the supervision of an attorney, you will support active litigation and advocacy efforts. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda and briefs.
- Helping develop case strategy.
- Supporting work with tribal nations, community organizations, and partner groups.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in law school as a 2L or 3L during spring 2027.
- Excellent writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with legal research tools like Westlaw.
- An interest in public interest law and social justice.
- Knowledge of environmental and administrative law is a plus.
- Ability to work 16 to 20 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks.
Location & details#
This is a paid position with an hourly rate of $36.86. You may work remotely from within the U.S. or on a hybrid schedule from our Chicago, Illinois office.
