About the role#
The Center for International Environmental Law offers a legal internship program for students to gain experience in environmental and human rights law. You will work under the supervision of staff attorneys and experts. This role focuses on developing research and analysis skills through practical work on international legal strategies. The internship is a paid, full-time position for ten weeks.
What you'll do#
- Research and write about domestic and international law, including trade and investment law.
- Assist staff with policy analysis and advocacy efforts.
- Attend meetings and conferences relevant to current projects.
- Help produce publications, legal opinions, and legal briefs.
- Support the preparation of amicus curiae before international tribunals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a postgraduate law degree program like a JD or LLM for the duration of the internship.
- Experience with international environmental or human rights law through coursework or previous work.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for ten weeks.
- Note that we cannot accept recent graduates or undergraduate students.
Location & details#
- This internship is remote, but you must be physically residing in the United States for the duration of the program.
- The internship takes place during the summer of 2027, generally between June and August.
- We do not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
- A monthly stipend of $2,600 is provided for full-time interns.
