About the role#
The Washington, DC Regional Office is seeking a part-time legal intern for the winter 2027 term. This position supports litigation and advocacy efforts regarding air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, water protection, energy efficiency, and zero-emission transportation. You will work under the supervision of a licensed attorney.
What you'll do#
- Support case development and litigation projects.
- Draft pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct legal and factual research.
- Analyze caselaw, regulatory, and policy questions.
- Develop legal theories and gather evidence.
- Attend client meetings and court proceedings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a 2L or 3L law student during spring 2027.
- Strong writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
- Ability to work both independently and collegially.
- An interest in public interest law and social justice.
- Knowledge of environmental and administrative law is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, part-time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week for 11 weeks.
- The hourly rate is $36.86.
- Work may be performed on a hybrid schedule in Washington, DC or remotely within the United States.
