About the role#
Dream is looking for an intern to join the Western Canada Accounting team for an eight-month term starting in January 2026. This role is based in Calgary and provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in real estate development accounting. You will work closely with finance and project teams to support financial reporting, cost tracking, and month-end processes.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and process cash calls and record project transactions.
- Support bank reconciliations and track cash flow.
- Assist with monthly account reconciliations and the analysis of project budgets and costs.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain working papers.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable and project teams to ensure timely invoice processing.
- Help prepare construction draw packages and cost tracking reports.
- Assist with month-end close procedures and gather necessary documentation.
- Maintain project accounting files and records.
- Support the preparation of internal financial reports and management packages.
- Provide assistance during tax compliance processes and audits.
- Collaborate with internal teams on project initiatives and reporting for lenders, partners, or government bodies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration.
- Strong interest in the real estate industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
- Experience with ERP systems or accounting software is an asset.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is an asset but is not required.
