About the role#
DOWL is hiring a Construction Engineering & Inspection Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports our team in managing and inspecting civil infrastructure projects. You will work alongside engineers and construction professionals to help turn project plans into reality.
What you'll do#
- Research and document existing conditions at project sites through site visits.
- Perform engineering calculations to support construction projects.
- Monitor the quality and progress of work during site visits.
- Assist survey crews with their daily tasks.
- Perform construction inspections for transportation and heavy civil projects.
- Help with in-service inspections of structures like bridges, walls, culverts, and tanks.
- Complete other engineering tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- At least one to two years of college coursework toward a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or construction engineering technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts like geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics.
- Ability to apply ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and scientific journals.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Anchorage, Alaska.
- This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
