About the role#
This is a temporary, full-time internship for Summer 2027 based in our Oakland or Walnut Creek offices. You will support project teams by producing basic drawings, models, calculations, and data sets for waterfront infrastructure projects. You will work under direct supervision, learning core tools and workflows while contributing to project deliverables.
What you'll do#
- Perform structural analysis and design for marine structures like piers, wharves, bulkheads, and seawalls.
- Work with materials including timber, structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, aluminum, and composites.
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, reports, and construction quantity estimates.
- Help resolve design problems through field investigations, detailed design work, and checking computations.
- Coordinate design aspects with architects, engineers, scientists, and project managers.
- Conduct structural site inspections and prepare related reports.
- Handle office construction administration, including the review of shop drawings and technical submittals.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis, entering your final year after the summer of 2027.
- Completed coursework in Engineering Materials, Structural Analysis, and at least one material design course (reinforced concrete or structural steel).
- Preference for Master’s degree students, those with an EIT certification, and candidates with prior internship experience.
- Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SAP2000, LPile, Mathcad, and Bluebeam is preferred.
- Ability to perform field investigations, which may involve navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
