About the role#
This internship offers civil engineering students the chance to gain professional experience by working on infrastructure projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals in Eugene, contributing to the design and construction of transportation systems. This role is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Research and document existing site conditions through visits and data collection.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Produce manual or AutoCAD drawings.
- Coordinate with government agencies and clients to secure design information and approvals.
- Manage project correspondence and maintain accurate records.
- Visit construction sites to monitor work quality and progress.
- Assist with writing and editing construction specifications.
- Calculate bid quantities, tabulate bid items, and estimate construction costs.
- Support survey crews and assist lab technicians with materials testing.
- Perform construction inspection for roadway projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts including geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics.
- Skills in interpreting technical instructions, analyzing scientific journals, and drawing conclusions from data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, and the public.
- Experience in construction or civil engineering fields is helpful.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is highly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and special projects.
- Capability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
