About the role#
Dominion Energy is seeking a Summer 2027 Nuclear Intern for the Electrical Engineering department at the VC Summer facility. This role focuses on the monitoring and support of major electrical distribution and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems required for the operation of a large electrical power generating plant. You will gain hands-on experience with control systems, including main turbine, feedwater, and nuclear reactor controls.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and trend system performance.
- Perform equipment inspections and system walkdowns.
- Evaluate component performance.
- Assist with corrective actions and component troubleshooting.
- Work with electrical distribution systems such as 480VAC, 120VAC, 125VDC, and oil-cooled power transformers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited 4-year engineering program studying Electrical, I&C, Electrical and Computer, or Nuclear Engineering with an electrical focus.
- A graduation date of December 2028 or later.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Knowledge of basic electrical theories and principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a preference for MS Excel macros.
- A basic understanding or use of AI platforms.
- Ability to follow directions, work well in a team, and maintain strong professional ethics.
