About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience for students currently enrolled in the Electrical Line Worker program at Trident Technical College. You will split your time between classroom instruction and field work to build the skills required for an Apprentice Lineman I role. This is a 14-week program where you are paid for the days you work with a line crew. The cooperative provides the necessary books and tools for the duration of the program.
What you'll do#
- Attend the Electrical Line Worker program at Trident Technical College from Monday through Thursday.
- Work with a line crew every Friday.
- Learn the tools and materials used for building and maintaining electric lines.
- Gain the knowledge and experience required to transition into an Apprentice Lineman I position.
- Complete and pass the Electrical Line Worker Third Class program.
- Follow cooperative safety policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment and active participation in the Electrical Line Worker Third Class courses at Trident Technical College.
- A valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to operate power tools and use equipment.
- Physical stamina to climb poles with hooks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 100 pounds.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
Location & details#
- Location: Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
- Work schedule: Part-time, consisting of classroom study and Friday field work.
- This position requires physical labor including climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. You may encounter occasional overtime or extended hours during emergency situations.
