About the role#
The Grid Resiliency Engineer Intern supports the Grid Resiliency organization at Dominion Energy. You will work on engineering, analytical, and project support tasks related to Voltage Optimization and Grid Transformation programs. This role provides hands-on experience with distribution system data, project development, and performance reporting. You will collaborate with engineering, operations, planning, and financial teams to help improve the reliability and efficiency of the distribution network.
What you'll do#
- Analyze Advanced Metering Infrastructure voltage data to find performance issues and optimization opportunities.
- Support evaluations of voltage regulation, load balancing, conductor loading, and transformer performance.
- Assist with project scoping, including data gathering and engineering calculations for Voltage Optimization Enablement.
- Use systems like EDGE, PI, GIS, Power BI, and Synergi to perform technical analysis.
- Create dashboards, reports, and presentations to track program metrics, project milestones, and energy savings.
- Help organize project costs, budgets, and forecasting information for financial reporting.
- Review system data and engineering models to identify potential reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and operations personnel on project execution.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for data quality and engineering processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's Engineering program (Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical).
- Graduation date of Spring 2028 or later with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to organize and analyze large datasets with high attention to detail.
- Interest in electric utility operations, power systems, and grid modernization.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, GIS, Python, or data visualization is preferred.
- Coursework in power systems, data analytics, engineering economics, or project management is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.

- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
