About the role#
Dominion Energy is seeking students for our 2027 engineering co-op and intern programs within Electric Operations. This program provides hands-on experience in the transmission and distribution of electricity from power plants to end users. You will gain exposure to substations, distribution systems, and metering to prepare for future professional roles in the utility industry. This is a paid, full-time program.
What you'll do#
- Plan and design electric transmission and distribution systems.
- Prepare detailed drawings.
- Support field operations by testing equipment and systems.
- Assist with engineering studies and analysis for electric and solar projects.
- Monitor the installation and operation of utility-scale solar projects.
- Review project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Provide status reports on ongoing work.
- Assist with restoration efforts during storms and power outages.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 and a graduation date of Fall 2028 or later.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
- Ability to travel and work outside of normal business hours.
- Physical ability to move about freely and perform field work in various environments.

- Location: Cayce, South Carolina.
- Terms: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, and Fall 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Transportation: You must live within a reasonable commuting distance and have reliable transportation.
