About the role#
The Accommodations and Disability Access (ADA) Graduate Assistant supports undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities at Dominican University. This role works within the Division of Student Success and Engagement to help students integrate into the campus community. You will assist staff and faculty in providing reasonable accommodations and building a barrier-free learning environment.
What you'll do#
- Meet with students one-on-one to discuss accommodations, provide academic coaching, and answer questions.
- Manage the office email account to communicate with students and faculty.
- Assist with the daily operations of exam proctoring for semester and final exams.
- Document student contacts and accommodation details using the Accommodate platform.
- Collaborate with the team to develop holistic support services for students with disabilities.
- Maintain office records and assist with various departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in a Dominican University graduate program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use software including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and the Accommodate portal.
- Interest in working with underrepresented groups, including those with disabilities.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in River Forest, Illinois.
- The term runs from August 2026 through May 2027.
- The role requires 20 hours of work per week.
- This is a paid position offering a monthly stipend or tuition remission for up to 6 credit hours per semester.
