About the role#
DigiPen Institute of Technology is seeking a Student Teaching Assistant for the History of Western Music (MUS-161/MUS-171) courses for the Fall 2026 term. This position supports the instructor in classroom operations, grading, and student mentorship. You will work 20 hours per week, with an expected employment period from August 31, 2026, to April 24, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with classroom setup, equipment operation, and facilitating student presentations.
- Grade student work and lab reports using provided guidelines, ensuring timely feedback and delivery.
- Upload grades to Moodle and maintain consistent, clear grading standards.
- Support students during labs and published office hours, including online meetings when required.
- Meet weekly with the instructor for performance feedback and duty coordination.
- Track and report hours worked accurately.
What you'll need#
- Current matriculated student status at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
- Successful completion of MUS-161 or MUS-399 History of Western Music with a grade of B or better.
- Proven proficiency with the course material and a willingness to mentor fellow students.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional, constructive critiques.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to student success.
- Ability to work independently and maintain focus during work hours.
- Good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington, USA. You must reside within the state of Washington to perform this role.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.13 - $18.25 per hour, based on experience at DigiPen.
- Scheduling: You may not work during any time when you have a scheduled class. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform tasks involving sitting, walking, and standing.
