About the role#
DigiPen Institute of Technology is seeking a Student Teaching Assistant for the History of Western Music (MUS-161/MUS-171) courses for the Fall 2026 term. This position supports the instructor in classroom operations and student mentorship. The role requires 20 hours of work per week and is open to students across various disciplines, including History, Psychology, Communications, Philosophy, and Art.
What you'll do#
- Manage classroom setup and operation, including slide decks and student presentations.
- Grade student work and lab reports using provided guidelines, ensuring timely delivery and constructive feedback.
- Upload grades to the course management system.
- Assist students during labs and scheduled office hours, including online meetings when necessary.
- Meet weekly with the instructor for performance feedback.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of MUS-161 or MUS-399 History of Western Music with a grade of B or better.
- Proven proficiency with the course material and the ability to mentor other students.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional critique.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to student success.
- Ability to work independently and maintain focus during work hours.
- Must be a currently matriculated student at DigiPen in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

- Location: Redmond, Washington. You must reside within the state of Washington to perform this role.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 31, 2026, through April 24, 2027).
- Compensation: $17.13 to $18.25 per hour, based on previous terms worked at DigiPen.
- Note: Students are not permitted to work during scheduled class times.
