About the role#
The Viper Landman Intern position is a 12-week summer program based in Midland, Texas. You will work on an individual land project throughout the summer and present your findings to the executive team at the end of the term. You will be paired with an experienced mentor to help you gain knowledge in all phases of land operations.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze leases, operating agreements, term assignments, and other contracts to identify obligations.
- Confirm ownership in operated and non-operated wells to help determine options for well proposals.
- Assist in surface use agreements and negotiations with landowners.
- Review title opinions and perform title curative tasks.
- Collaborate with teams across different disciplines to learn about the daily functions of an exploration and production company.
- Participate in on-site field visits to active drilling rigs and completions spreads.
- Engage in intern events and community service activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Energy Management or Energy Commerce.
- Commitment to returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work on-site in Midland, Texas for the full duration of the internship.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher is preferred.
- Prior work experience or extracurricular achievements are preferred.
- Membership in the American Association of Professional Landmen is considered a plus.
