About the role#
Diamondback Energy offers a 12-week internship for students interested in the oil and gas industry. You will join a specific department, such as facilities, production, drilling, completions, or reservoir engineering. Each intern manages an individual project throughout the summer and presents the final results to upper management. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to daily operations in an exploration and production company.
What you'll do#
- Complete an individual engineering project and present your findings to leadership.
- Develop technical skills under the guidance of a mentor.
- Analyze well production data, decline curves, and pressure trends to support forecasting.
- Assist with drilling and completions tasks, including cost tracking and performance analysis.
- Visit field sites to learn about active drilling rigs and completions spreads.
- Participate in company-sponsored intern events and community service projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program or higher in Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Ability to return to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher is preferred.
- Prior work experience or extracurricular achievements are also preferred.

- This internship is based in Midland, Texas.
- You must be willing to work on-site in Midland for the full duration of the summer 2027 term.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
