About the role#
The Viper BD Landman Intern joins the team responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and closing mineral and royalty transactions. You will own an individual project throughout the summer, working directly on the acquisition side of the business. The internship lasts approximately 12 weeks from May to August 2027. You will work under the guidance of an experienced mentor and present your completed project to the executive team at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze leases, deeds, conveyances, and purchase and sale agreements.
- Confirm mineral and royalty ownership using courthouse records, county records, and division order research.
- Assist in negotiations with mineral and royalty owners by preparing offer packages and letters of intent.
- Support the underwriting of acquisition opportunities by gathering production, activity, and ownership data for valuation models.
- Build acquisition target lists and track competitor and operator activity in the Permian Basin.
- Participate in field visits to active drilling rigs and completions spreads.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor degree or higher in Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Finance, or a related business discipline.
- You must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Prior experience or coursework in mineral and royalty ownership, title research, or transaction analysis is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Midland, Texas.
- You must be willing to work in Midland for the full duration of the internship.
