About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures for safe prescription fulfillment at workstations including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including addressing questions and demonstrating empathy during interactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards to maintain patient safety and privacy.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
