About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future role as a pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team in maintaining safe and accurate operations while gaining hands-on experience.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that daily operations run smoothly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, answering medical questions, and resolving patient problems.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
