About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures at each workstation.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all patient interactions.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by solving problems and providing helpful service.
- Support immunizations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, as permitted by law.
- Maintain pharmacy workflow procedures including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into, or active enrollment in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems related to prescriptions, such as calculating dosages and day supply.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Strong focus and attention to detail when performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
