About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Provide caring service by showing empathy to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify information or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, documenting events as required.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and privacy standards.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market is preferred.
