About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your pharmacy school education into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by deepening your understanding of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Operate pharmacy workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer patient counseling and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where permitted.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines, obtain informed consent, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks and maintain focus over time.
- Attention to detail when confirming prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
