About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while transitioning into a pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice. This role requires the completion of internship hours within 18 months and obtaining pharmacist licensure in Iowa within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, solving problems, and offering immunizations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and contact prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
- Participate in pharmacy practice and patient care scenarios to build business acumen and leadership skills.
- Support immunizations where permissible, including educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and reviewing patient information.
What you'll need#
- Foreign Graduate from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification, plus successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- Valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
