About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in renal nutrition within a dialysis care setting. You will work as part of a health care team, providing medical nutrition therapy under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. You will follow company policies and regulatory requirements while supporting the development and implementation of patient care plans.
What you'll do#
- Conduct patient nutrition interviews and calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Assist with the development and implementation of nutrition care plans.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects for staff or patients, such as educational handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and quality assessment sessions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or a university-based program accredited by ACEND.
- A desire to deliver superior care to patients.
- Strong customer service skills.
