About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy. This role involves following established company policies and regulatory requirements while supporting patient care.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Assist in the development and implementation of nutrition plans of care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality assessment reviews.
- Practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects, such as education handouts or bulletin boards, for patients and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or a university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics accredited by ACEND.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Ability to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Dietitian.
- A strong desire to deliver quality patient care.
