About the role#
This position offers respiratory therapy students hands-on experience in a clinical setting. You will support our respiratory department by performing clerical and patient care tasks under the supervision of staff therapists. This role is part-time and operates on a flexible, rolling schedule.
What you'll do#
- Assist respiratory staff with procedural duties and stock patient case carts.
- Clean and assemble equipment for pending admits and procedures.
- Perform EKG tests and cord blood gases following departmental procedures.
- Contact physicians regarding abnormal EKG results and post reports.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and update the patient information board for oncoming shifts.
- Verify emergency code box supplies and manage sharps containers.
- Stamp patient flowsheets and charge sheets with required identifiers.
- Support cost containment efforts by using supplies efficiently and recording charges accurately.
- Deliver soiled equipment to central services with proper documentation.
- Perform other tasks as delegated by the RT Lead or department management.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the junior level of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to accept tasks as assigned.
