About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy while following company policies and regulatory requirements. This is a part-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Review renal nutrition basics and the typical workflow for a renal dietitian.
- Conduct patient nutrition interviews and calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Collect data for Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Assessments.
- Assist with the development and implementation of nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects, such as education handouts or lobby activities, for patients and staff.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement sessions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- A desire to deliver superior patient care.
- Strong customer service skills are preferred.
- Ability to embrace the mission and values of Fresenius Medical Care.
