About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will provide medical nutrition therapy to patients while under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. You will follow company policies, regulatory requirements, and the corporate compliance program while gaining experience in renal nutrition.
What you'll do#
- Learn the basics of renal nutrition and the daily workflow of a renal dietitian.
- Conduct patient nutrition interviews and calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Assist in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Collect data for initial, 90 day, semi-annual, and annual comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects for patients or staff, such as handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a dietetic internship or a university-based coordinated program in dietetics accredited by ACEND.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or dietetics.
- A commitment to delivering quality patient care and supporting company values.

- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Note: The clinical manager assigns and monitors all tasks based on your education plan. You cannot work under the supervision of a family member or provide care for a patient who is a family member.
