About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on clinical experience while working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position supports our nursing team in providing care to patients at our facility in Maysville, Kentucky.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse.
- Document the care you provide and monitor patient conditions, communicating updates to your supervisor.
- Assist patients with daily activities, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Build professional relationships with patients, their families, and the broader healthcare team.
- Coordinate care across disciplines and advocate for the physical and emotional needs of every patient.
- Evaluate the learning needs of patients and families to provide appropriate education.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved school of nursing as a third-year student or higher.
- Expected graduation within 13 months of hire.
- Good standing with your nursing school and clinical competence to perform assigned tasks.
- A valid Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS) certification.
