About the role#
As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations while you work under the direction of a preceptor. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive team environment while developing your clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist pharmacy teams with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Operate pharmacy workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Manage inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Review and document patient health information.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, including active listening.
- Mathematical skills to solve problems related to prescription dispensing.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and determine the best course of action.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market is preferred.
