About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will provide medical nutrition therapy under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. The role follows an education plan focused on renal nutrition and clinical workflow. All work must align with company policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct patient nutrition interviews and calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers regarding renal diets.
- Collect data for initial, 90 day, semi-annual, and annual Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Assessments.
- Assist in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and document progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects, such as education handouts or lobby activities, for patients and staff.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, including Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or an ACEND-accredited university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- A desire to deliver superior patient care and a commitment to company values.
- Strong customer service skills when working with internal and external partners.
