About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap designed to build clinical and operational skills. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy.
- Offer immunizations, point-of-care testing, and other health services.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and across the market.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
