About the role#
Join our Cath Lab team at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center as a Radiologic Technologist Extern. This casual part-time role provides hands-on clinical experience while you complete your Radiography program. You will work alongside experienced technologists in a high-performing electrophysiology environment, gaining exposure to advanced imaging and patient care procedures. The schedule is flexible to accommodate your academic commitments, including potential weekend and holiday shifts.
What you'll do#
- Support imaging technologists with patient preparation and examination room maintenance.
- Organize and clean exam rooms, including stocking and equipment upkeep.
- Verify patient identification and explain procedures to address patient questions.
- Assist with patient transport and transfers.
- Use radiology computer systems to manage requisitions, schedules, and patient information.
- Review medical records to obtain clinical history and physician orders.
- Position patients and select exposure factors under direct supervision, following safety practices.
- Document images and records in SmartChart, RIS, and PACS.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Completion of at least 12 months of training in an accredited program.
- Anticipated completion of your Radiography program.
- Successful completion of academic coursework and clinical competencies in specified areas, including Patient Care and Basic Radiation Safety.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration, required within 120 days of graduation.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to stand for 60% of the workday, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, 20 lbs over the head, and carry 40 lbs.
- Ability to push or pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a 150-lb sliding transfer with assistance.

- Schedule: Casual part-time, flexible to accommodate schooling.
- Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70 per hour.
