About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a retail setting to build your professional knowledge and skills. The program requires you to complete your internship within 18 months and meet all pharmacist licensure requirements within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care and offer counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and resolving third-party rejections.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff, identifying business opportunities, and implementing solutions.
- Ensure a safe, effective work environment while maintaining inventory and regulatory compliance.
- Greet customers, perform register transactions, and assist with pharmacy or front-store questions.
- Coordinate the training and development of pharmacy support staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all federal and state regulations.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited pharmacy school.
- An active pharmacy intern license in California.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
