About the role#
This is a part-time student position for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited respiratory care program. You will work under the supervision of the Lead Respiratory Therapist to support the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illnesses. This role requires you to be on-site in Odessa, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Set up and operate respiratory care equipment.
- Explain treatment procedures and equipment use to patients and their caregivers.
- Document patient education and treatment responses in medical charts.
- Administer physician-prescribed treatments, including nebulizer therapy, nasal oxygen, and chest physical therapy.
- Provide ventilation or compressions during CPR when necessary.
- Perform trach care according to hospital policy.
- Conduct regular rounds to check oxygen equipment at least twice per shift.
- Maintain equipment by changing humidifiers and suction canisters daily.
- Assist with patient preparation for physical therapy, ambulation, and transport.
- Store oxygen tanks in compliance with OSHA and hospital safety guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited respiratory care education program.
- Completion of your first year of studies.
- Completion of a Pharmacology course.
