About the role#
We are looking for a Taxation Intern to join our team for a four-month term from January to April 2027. You will work alongside experienced finance professionals to gain hands-on exposure to various investment sectors including infrastructure, real estate, and private equity. This role provides an opportunity to explore different areas of tax while building practical skills for your career and CPA journey.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assist with partnership, trust, and corporate income tax returns.
- Perform financial statement and account reconciliations.
- Assist with the quarterly tax provision for the parent company.
- Support tax payment calculations and track balances for affiliated companies.
- Help manage and meet tax filing and payment deadlines.
- Support tax audits and inquiries from Canadian and other tax authorities.
- Research and help respond to tax-related questions.
- Create, improve, and maintain tax calculations, provisions, and working papers in Excel.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes.
- Develop clear tax summaries, templates, and materials for management.
What you'll need#
- Currently in the third or fourth year of an undergraduate program or an MBA program.
- Focus on Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA designation.
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts.
- Some knowledge of Canadian taxation or tax preparation through coursework or previous work experience.
- Comfort working in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to work with numbers.
- Curiosity and a proactive approach to learning.
- Experience with Taxprep or other tax preparation software is an asset.
