About the role#
The Student Nurse Intern provides patient-centered care in a Medical-Surgical setting. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, you will assist with daily patient needs and contribute to a safe, organized care environment. This position is on-site in Warsaw, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Assist nursing staff with basic patient care services and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Collect and record patient data such as vital signs, weight, oxygen saturation, and intake/output, reporting all findings to the nursing team.
- Support patients with daily activities including feeding, bathing, grooming, linen changes, and skin care.
- Assist with patient mobility, including positioning, ambulating, and the use of assistive devices like wheelchairs or walkers.
- Perform blood glucose monitoring, collect samples, and maintain continuous patient observation when required.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program or up to two years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Basic knowledge of patient care practices and medical equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain patient confidentiality.
- A Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
- A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification is preferred.
