Student Nurse Intern - Med Surg - PRN

About the role#

The Student Nurse Intern provides patient-centered care within the Med Surg department. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, you will assist with daily patient needs, maintain a safe clinical environment, and support the healthcare team in delivering high-quality care.

What you'll do#

• Assist nursing staff with delegated patient care services and maintain a clean, organized environment.
• Collect and record patient data, such as vital signs, weight, oxygen saturation, and intake/output, reporting all findings to the nursing staff.
• Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, oral care, linen changes, skin care, and meal assistance.
• Aid in patient mobility, including positioning, ambulating, and the use of mobility aids like walkers or wheelchairs.
• Perform clinical tasks such as blood glucose monitoring, urine and stool sample collection, and urinary catheter care.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain continuous patient observation when required.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Nursing program or 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices and clinical equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
• BCLS certification is required within 90 days of hire; CNA or CPCT certification is preferred.
