About the role#
The Nurse Intern supports patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) during night shifts. This role focuses on hands-on learning, collaboration with the healthcare team, and providing safe, compassionate care to enhance the patient experience.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care, including vital sign monitoring, hygiene assistance, and comfort measures.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, including participating in handoffs and reporting changes in patient conditions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including patient rooms and shared workspaces.
- Document all tasks and observations clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Perform hourly rounding and provide purposeful interactions to foster therapeutic relationships.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance, such as glucometers, bladder scanners, and scales.
- Uphold excellent customer service relations with patients and families.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
- 0 to 1 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
- Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the State Department of Public Safety (required for Skilled Nursing).
- Basic understanding of patient care procedures and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
