About the role#
The Nurse Intern supports patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with essential tasks to help maintain a therapeutic environment. This role focuses on hands-on learning and collaboration with the healthcare team to provide safe and organized care.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care including monitoring vital signs and assisting with hygiene and comfort.
- Communicate with the care team during handoffs and bedside shift reports.
- Report any changes in patient conditions.
- Develop clinical skills by seeking feedback and applying practices under the guidance of an RN.
- Maintain a clean work environment and assist with basic equipment maintenance like glucometers and scales.
- Perform hourly rounding and provide purposeful patient interactions.
- Document tasks and observations accurately and on time.
- Uphold customer service standards with patients and families.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
- Zero to one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Basic understanding of patient care procedures and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients and the healthcare team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
- A fingerprint clearance card issued by the State Department of Public Safety if assigned to Skilled Nursing.
