About the role#
The ER Nurse Intern supports patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position focuses on hands-on learning, collaborating with the healthcare team, and providing safe and organized care. You will assist with essential tasks to help the healing process and improve the patient experience.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care within your scope of practice, including vital sign monitoring and hygiene assistance.
- Communicate with the care team during handoffs and report changes in patient conditions.
- Develop clinical skills by seeking feedback and applying practices under the guidance of an RN.
- Maintain a clean work environment and assist with basic equipment maintenance for items like glucometers and scales.
- Perform hourly rounding to build therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Document all tasks and observations accurately and on time.
- Uphold customer service standards for patients and their families.
- Comply with all facility policies and maintain reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
- Zero to one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- A basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Strong communication skills to interact with families and the healthcare team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
