About the role#
We are looking for a Mining Engineering student to join our Mine Engineering group for a summer internship at the Kensington Mine. This role offers hands-on experience at an active underground gold mine. You will work on projects that have a direct impact on our operations while receiving mentorship from industry professionals. The internship lasts approximately 12 weeks, from May through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Gain real-world experience at an operating mine site.
- Take ownership of projects with tangible impacts on mine operations.
- Collaborate with other interns on a group presentation to identify areas for company improvement.
- Travel to Chicago for an expense-paid internship summit to present your work and network with company leadership.
- Engage in career exposure and mentorship opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mining Engineering B.S. program as a junior or senior.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Ability to work safely and promote a safety-first mindset.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with Deswik is preferred.
- Capability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong project and teamwork experience.
- Adaptability and the ability to multitask in a changing environment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Kensington Mine, near Juneau, Alaska.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $29 per hour.
- Housing and food are provided on-site in dormitory-style accommodations.
- The site is remote and requires daily transit via bus and boat.
