About the role#
CNO Financial Group is hiring Legal Interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position where you will work alongside our legal counsel team. You will support the Law Department across various functions, including compliance, litigation, privacy, and government relations. This role offers flexibility, allowing for remote work or a hybrid arrangement for those living near our Carmel, Indiana or Chicago, Illinois offices.
What you'll do#
- Gather and analyze facts to apply relevant laws, regulations, and legal standards.
- Assist with legal counsel for insurance contracts, sales materials, and marketing agreements.
- Help with policy interpretation, claims processes, and individual claims handling.
- Support underwriting processes for health and life insurance policies.
- Review attorney, consumer, and regulatory inquiries or complaints.
- Assist with risk assessment and mitigation regarding fraud investigations and employment matters.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a JD degree, with the first year of law school completed.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-12 week program duration.
- Availability to work during Central or Eastern time zone business hours.
- Authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Location & details#
- The internship runs from May 17 through August 06, 2027.
- This position is remote-friendly, provided you work Central or Eastern time zone hours.
- Associates within 60 miles of Carmel, IN or Chicago, IL may work from those offices.
- The role includes paid holidays for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
