About the role#
As an Environmental Intern, you will work alongside business units and HSE professionals to implement management strategies that reduce risk and remove hazards. You will help improve the environmental management system to ensure the facility remains a steward of the environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily environmental tasks and air permit management programs.
- Support the implementation of SWPPP and NPDES water permit programs.
- Manage hazardous waste programs for business units.
- Participate in HSE meetings and incident investigations.
- Interact with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve environmental issues.
- Research new environmental regulations and technologies.
- Develop and deliver environmental training, lead team meetings, and give presentations.
- Review cause maps and implement incident prevention strategies.
- Identify and establish leading indicator metrics to track and address risks.
- Provide technical support to facility environmental teams.
What you'll need#
- Full-time student status pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours in your field of study.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A valid driver's license.
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC card.
