About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will work with safety and health professionals and operations teams to update and improve the safety management system. You may be assigned to areas including Safety Engineering, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, or Contractor Safety.
What you'll do#
- Assist in field surveys and audits of business unit operations.
- Develop and implement processes to track and analyze HSE data.
- Create HSE posters, flashes, moments, and other training materials.
- Support improvement initiatives for contractor HSE incident management and ISNetworld utilization.
- Enter data into a central database.
- Provide support for facility HSE committees and teams.
- Participate in HSE Management Systems reviews or self-assessments.
- Perform special projects as requested.
What you'll need#
- Full-time student status pursuing a bachelor or master degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Preparedness, or Public Health.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours in related topics.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A valid driver license.
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC card.

- Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana.
- Terms available: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, or Fall 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- Work modality includes both on-site and remote options depending on the specific department.
