About the role#
This internship focuses on industrial hygiene at the CITGO refinery in Lake Charles. You will work alongside safety and health professionals to identify and manage health hazards in the work environment. The position is full-time and available for the Winter, Summer, or Fall 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Partner with safety teams to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control health hazards.
- Conduct field surveys to verify that control measures meet requirements.
- Perform routine monitoring based on the company exposure assessment strategy.
- Manage air monitoring equipment, including calibration, maintenance, and repairs.
- Review risk assessments and update exposure profiles using monitoring data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s program.
- Relevant coursework in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Preparedness, Public Health, Chemistry, Biology, or Toxicology.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours in these fields.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
