About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in health, safety, and environmental compliance within a manufacturing setting. You will support the HSE team by assisting with safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, training programs, and performance reporting. This role involves working across departments, including Operations, Engineering, Quality, and HR, to help identify safety improvements and reduce workplace risks.
What you'll do#
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Support new employee safety orientations and training activities.
- Maintain HSE records, training documentation, and compliance files.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and documentation control.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.
- Collect and analyze safety performance data for reports, dashboards, and KPI tracking.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks.
- Support continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing workplace risk.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing is preferred.
- A basic understanding of safety principles and OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and organize data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation habits.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.

- Environment: The role requires a mix of office work and time on the manufacturing floor. You may be exposed to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required in production areas.
