2026-2027 Earth Science (Previous Intern) Intern

About the role#

This internship program is designed for students who have previously interned with Chevron. You will work on projects that contribute direct value to the company, collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams that include geologists, geophysicists, engineers, data scientists, and software developers. Each intern is paired with a supervisor and a technical mentor to provide guidance throughout the assignment.

What you'll do#

• Develop technical skills in geoscience, geophysics, and petrophysics assignments focused on exploration, development, reservoir characterization, and well operations.
• Apply practical experience in geoscience coding, data science, or machine learning to project tasks.
• Contribute to team objectives based on your specific academic background and previous work experience.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Master’s or Doctorate thesis program, or less than 2 years of post-graduate degree experience in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, or related fields.
• A professional or academic focus in a technical area aligned with Chevron’s business needs.
• Strong academic performance in core programs, including demonstrated skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
• Prior experience with industry workflows for subsurface characterization is preferred.
• Ability to drive on a routine basis if required by the position.

• Location: Houston, Texas.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: This is a paid position with an anticipated range of $35.20/hour to $10,200/monthly, determined by discipline, degree level, and academic year.
• Note: This position does not provide visa sponsorship, except for candidates possessing or currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
