About the role#
The Office of Career Development is hiring a Student Assistant for the Fall 2026 term. This role is based in Braun Hall and offers students the chance to gain professional office experience while supporting their peers. You will work directly with the Director of Career Development to help maintain office operations and promote career resources across campus.
What you'll do#
- Greet visitors, answer the phone, and manage the office email account.
- Guide students, faculty, and staff to the correct resources.
- Assist students with requesting career consultations through Handshake.
- Provide feedback on resumes and cover letters to help students build confidence.
- Help manage the Handshake platform by approving job and event requests.
- Support the planning and execution of events like the biannual Job & Internship Networking Mixer.
- Collaborate with staff on outreach efforts to increase awareness of career services.
What you'll need#
- You must have a Federal Work Study award.
- Preference is given to first-year students and sophomores.
- Availability to work at least 10 hours per week.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with the campus community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant majors include Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Human Resources, and Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $11 per hour.
- Employment Dates: August 24, 2026, through April 30, 2027.
- Note: Students may not exceed 20 hours of work per week across all campus jobs.
